OUR LEADERS
BRIAN SCHMIDT
ELDER
I was reached with the gospel through door-to-door evangelism while I was a student at the University of Wisconsin. The faithful follow-up of Lighthouse Church in Madison was instrumental to help me as I turned to Jesus as Lord and Savior. After graduating with a mechanical engineering degree, my wife Jennifer and I moved to Illinois for a job opportunity. We lived in Crystal Lake, Illinois for 24 years, raising five kids and serving and leading in church small groups and children’s ministries.
After my employer closed its doors during Covid, Jennifer and I moved to Sturgeon Bay so that I could take a position at Therma-Tron-X. We started attending SBCC shortly thereafter and have been members for about four years now. To serve our congregation, we started up a new Sunday morning class for our fourth and fifth graders and have been teaching most every week for the past two ministry years. I have been blessed to participate in the Tuesday evening men’s group and we recently together joined the Hayes’ group that we host at our house in Sturgeon Bay.
I love serving the Lord and I am eager to take on the weighty role of elder in our church. God’s power working through me is much greater than my own abilities, so I focus on being available, faithful, and teachable. My heart’s desire is to see fellow believers grow in their knowledge and love for the Lord, bringing glory to Him through their faithful obedience.
