Giving to Community Church

God influences the world through his people. He gives to us so He can give through us. The Bible tells us that everything we have is a gift from God (1 Chronicles 29:14). As you give both faithfully and willingly, the world is changed for the glory of God: the gospel is preached, lives are touched, people are fed, bodies are healed, churches are built; and you, in turn, are blessed by God so that you can give again.

Sturgeon Bay Community Church is not financially endowed.  We engage in no financial activities for profit, sincerely abiding by Christ’s instruction, “make not my Father’s house a house of merchandise” (John 2:16).  We depend entirely upon the regular gifts of God’s people, made without assessment.  The scriptures urge liberal Christian giving as an expression of our devotion – a ministry that God richly rewards.

Missions Statement: Donations to Non-Profits

In order to manage processes and procedures, in a manner consistent with Sturgeon Bay Community Church’s Mission, Vision and Values, clarification is needed regarding financial donations made to missionaries.

The Internal Revenue Code, as it pertains to donations to and expenditures from a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization are specific and rigid. One of many rules non-profits must adhere to, affects donor designated giving. In order for a donation to be tax deductible, the donor cannot designate a specific individual for which that donation will benefit. This can be complex when we support specific missionaries. It should be understood that donor directed funds to Sturgeon Bay Community Church are under the complete control of the governing body of the church. Individuals wishing to support these missionaries may make directed donations, with the understanding that SBCC has the ultimate discretion of the distribution of all funds.
