"Every church has two purposes in common. They want to reach people with the Gospel and they want their congregation to go deeper in their spiritual walk with God. At Praying Pelican Missions we get the joy of seeing the value in missions first hand. The host church receives incredible encouragement and support from the mission team and the mission team is spiritually renewed after serving in the name of Jesus. There’s a powerful undercurrent of learning that is inescapable in missions."

PARTNER INFO: Asociación Misionera Hosanna began in 1987 when new missionaries to the area of Palmitas saw the need for the community to have a place to worship God with a healthy environment, surrounded by people that love God in the same way and with the same mind! Their vision as a church is to be a spiritual family that demonstrates the love of God and the transformation in the Holy Spirit for many generations. Their mission and focus is to reach out to as many people as possible in and out of our community and to teach them the Bible in the way it was written without changing any word in it, and to help assist them with their needs.
Pastor: Donald Chavarria's testimony: “I was born in Guanacaste, and my parents took me to church from a very young age. I remember that several people from the church told me that I would be a pastor in the future. In the beginning, that was hard for me 90% of the time, I didn’t want to accept it. My family was a humble one, that's why nowadays, part of my call is to serve families that are in need. We, as part of our church, have a feeding program and I remember I used to attend a place like that when I was a kid. I love the fact that now God is helping us to give a meal a few times every week to several families from the community. I have been the pastor here in Sarapiqui (Palmitas) for nine years, and I can recognize how beautiful it is to serve our Lord. As a church, we are planting two churches in neighboring communities. We have seen God's hand helping us in the process. We trust that better times are coming.”
